My wife and I are starting to work with a dance instructor for our wedding dance and we are looking for a song. Our dance instructor has suggested a few songs but they are too long and we would have to make them shorter to around 2-2:30 min. I am sure that there must be a place where I can just buy an already modified song to fit my needs because I remember my old college instructors having modified songs for our dance lessons and small dance performances. 1) I watched fansubs of the show... I think translated title was something like "tropical rumba"
2) It was VERY off-beat and hilarious... kind of like excel saga, even crazier
3) Main characters were a young dude with blue hair and young girl with pink hair
4) Girl was quite odd and funny, like some kind of shape-shifting alien; she was a BIG eater

I have two parties have need to attend in one evening. Both events are within a short drive of each other so distance is not a problem but I would strongly prefer to be able to wear one outfit for both parties so I don't need to change, as I have no where to change. I want to dress to be a little bit flashy as I know the people at these parties tend to dress up.

Thanks everyone for your honest opinions. Perhaps some cities have clubs that are more casual but the clubs here tend to be dress up, meaning no one, girls or guys would wear jeans to a club. Mini skirts or hot pants are worn by 85%+ of girls here. I chose the boots as they stand out more and are more comfortable for dancing then flimsy sandals. Better support I find.

Ballroom: I'm Having a Problem with the Jive Basic?

I have experience with rumba and chacha, and I'm having some problem learning bronze-level jive.

The basic is a left chasse, right chasse, rockstep. On the chasses I'm having two problems:

1) My feet pound into the floor, making a loud noise and my feet hurt after a few minutes.
2) It looks like I'm jumping, and it really isn't fluid at all.

I can solve these problems by stepping smaller, but then I can't move very much. I must be doing some fundemental wrong.

Has anyone seen/had this problem who can give advice to me on how to practice to fix it?

After one lesson, can a dance instructor tell if you have good potential?

I'm a 24 year old guy and I went for my first private dance lesson last week. The owner of the dance studio was observing the lesson. I was taught the basics of the Merengue, Rumba and the Swing. So far, I'm enjoying it and the lesson went much better than I expected. When I finished the lesson, the owner told me that I'm picking up very fast and that I'm musically inclined. He said for talented people like myself, he would like for me to come in for more classes. Then eventually, he would like me to sign up for the Teacher Training Course so I can eventually become a dance instructor within a couple of years since I'm so talented.

I'm in shock. I only go for just one lesson and already this guy is talking about training me to become a dance instructor.

So, my question is.....can dance instructors really sense that a person has the potential to become a good dancer after going for only one private lesson? Or is this guy just full of it and just wants me to keep going for lessons so he makes more money?

I’m a 24 year old guy that started going for dance lesson because I’m tried of just sitting there like a party pooper at parties. The dance studio I go to teaches several different types of Latin/Ballroom dances. So far, they taught me the basics of the Merengue, Rumba, and Swing. For just one lesson, I was happy the way I was learning and I feel this is something I can be real good at.

So, now to my question….

I read somewhere that the majority of latin dances have a ton of african influences. Whether its hip hop or the rumba, its amazing to watch. They both generally have alot of rhythm and can move better. It's really cool.

i awaken to the smell of baking cinnamon rolls. there is no other smell like it, it makes me feel as if i were 6 again. i sit up in bed and shake off the grogginess and roll my feet over the edge. i stand, a little to soon, and waver then fall back to my bed. 'played the computer a little to long last night, didnt you? dumbass...' i think out loud. i swing my hand and palm lands smack on my forehead. "face palm", i say.
i force myself to stand again and i reach back and scratch a little befor walking to my cloths bucket (im a weirdo, i know. i just think that its easier to throw my clean cloths in a 50 gallon tub, and the dirty ones on the floor. than fold them and stack them in drawers, then 'neatly' put the dirty ones in the hamper... i do things the easiest way possible. always), i bend down and grab my favorite jeans and a random t-shirt, follow by socks and an over-shirt. they're all put on in that order too...
i walk out of my room and head for the living room/kitchen/dining room. its a strange little room. it has a double sink, fridge, stove/oven, couch, entertainment system, and end tables along with the tv-trays. in the only vacant corner of the room, we have one of the tv-trays set up with a mini-Christmas tree upon it, and under it are the few presents we could afford this year.
i sit down on the couch and mom passes me a cinnamon roll fresh out of the oven, they're so good! i savor every molecule that comes in contact with my taste-buds. i love the sweet cinnamon taste. i smile at mom, "merry Christmas" i say to her.
she replys with a smile,"go wake up your brother, and Justin... useless people, don't even get up on Christmas mourning... bums!" ,... the last part was more of a rant not ment for me, so i did as i was told.
the 'bums' came into the liv-kit-...living space, and a kitchen (thats what ill call it...) and ploped down on the couch and gobbled there cinnamon rolls. "Matt, ur gonna be Santa this year", mom tells me. so i get up and sit on the floor next to our table tree. i pass out the gifts and everyone got what they needed, and on thing that they wanted, except me...
i received an electric shaver (i did need that tho...), and a gift card for $50 at 'bills used robotics and android parts'. wich was useless to me. why were the people i lived with so stupid? why? they knew i couldn't afford even an old model used android...
though that didn't mean i didn't want one. androids were perfect. perfect. i like that word... androids were still relatively new. technology took a steep rise in the last 10 years, we went from desktops, and laptops, net books, and smart phones, to the implant. implants and androids were what was 'it' rite now.
implants were usually jewelry like in appearance but underneath, they are wired to your nerves and use the parts of your brain that you don't normally use. its the same as carrying around a couple desktops around everywhere.
and then theres androids... humanity's new slaves. poor creatures. (i call them creatures because they are alive, and conichus. not automated robots like the 'rumba' robotic vacuum. theyre like us, alive) androids have been around scence the first counchous ai. it was a research computer for testing emotion software and was being run on an ibm supper computer.
needless to say, the computer came to counchisness and out of want to be human, desinged the first android body. soon after this the vairous religous groups stepped in and had the government destroy the first android. one month later, a venture-capitalist from scilicon vally thout he could market androids as 'mans best helper', and he did.

I'm having my Birthday party next Sat (15th May) and am looking to go to a club that plays R&B/commercial music in central London.

I don't really want to go to the plastic/WAG filled places (as I call them) like Embassy, China White, Funky Buddah etc. And if the drink prices are average as opposed to ridiculously expensive, that would be a bonus! lol

I've been to Bar Rumba previously for example, and liked it. Has anyone been to Traffic nightclub in Holborn? It seems a bit small, not much of a dance floor.
